Install

Install for Whittle. Describe a part in plain words and get a verified, printable file. Runs fully local and offline.

Whittle needs Python 3.11 or newer. The project's own instructions use a conda environment on Python 3.12:

conda create -n whittle python=3.12
conda activate whittle
git clone https://github.com/Bit-Primitive/whittle
cd whittle
pip install -e ".[gui]"

Leave out [gui] for the command line and Python API only.

Linux desktops on Wayland

The desktop app moves itself onto XWayland at start-up, which needs libxcb-cursor. Install it into the same conda environment:

conda install -c conda-forge xcb-util-cursor

Without it the app still runs; only the interactive 3D view degrades.

Photo to mesh (optional)

Photo reconstruction is off by default. Turning it on is a config change plus:

pip install -e ".[reconstruct]"
